Aspen Historical Society

The 3,200 square foot building is adjacent to the Wheeler-Stallard Museum and contains two levels above grade and one below. Forum Phi transformed the lowest level of the structure into a state of the art, safe, clean storage environment for all 15,000 plus archival documents with an emphasis on risk reduction for fire, flood and security threats. The team is also created research and preservation spaces to optimize the productivity of staff and allow safe artifact interaction with the community members who would like to use them.  An all-purpose public space was incorporated into the design and used by the community and historical society for presentations, meetings, and “rainy day” shelter for kids programs.  Lastly, additional offices were added to accommodate more volunteers, research fellows, and alleviate the current crowded staff conditions.
