With spectacular views of the Marina Green and San Francisco Bay, this 1939 four-story residence is located in a sensitive environmental zone which impacted the structural plan and design from all perspectives. Opening up the floor plan required meticulous detail, based on the earthquake potential and high variable water table. Keeping this in mind, Forum Phi turned the client’s vision into reality, creating more shared space in order to accommodate a desire to entertain. Maintaining the historic anatomic features, including beams and ceiling structure, and adding transitional style furnishings to complement the clients’ collection of contemporary art, this Marina home is a perfect mix of old and new. The family and kitchen area look out to a terrace, and from the serene upper-level master suite the homeowners have expansive ocean views.
